I'm noodling a long-term ITB project, and space is a factor. Most ITB's I come across have long barrels (usually for injector placement) and cutting them down isn't always feasible.

I found these 40mm throttle bases which seem to be an independent part of a EMPI / Kadron / Solex / Brosol carb. They look to have an air bypass screw as well, which would be nice to have.

So my question is there any reason these wouldn't make good low profile throttle bodies? I'm reading that the throttle shafts are known to get leaky, but there are solutions to address that.

If not, does anyone know of something very similar in profile? I also saw these on PhotoBucket, but have no other details:
