Re: Would you pay $100 more a month for an mkIV? (K-Fresh)

Know what I'm sayin'? And my car is pushin' almost 100k miles now and every little latch, piece, motor and shiet like that squeaks/breaks. It may be time for me to try and work something out to make something happen. This old ride is fallin' apart on me. http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif

I might, if it was the 25th anniversary. But I went to the stealership a couple weeks ago to look at the new 2002's and I just don't like them as much as my 95. However, as my car gets up in the miles I know exactly how you feel. You end up paying more to keep it alive than it's worth.

Well, $100 a month would not get you a Mk4 like those in the pics, you would have to spend a lot more and be starting from scratch. Also, I have no payment, I bought the car cash, so when I am ready to have a payment again it will be on my TT. The Jet has a lot of life left in her, and I am not done buying expensive, impractical parts for her yet.....

I just test drove a 2002 Turbo Beetle S (same platform and drivetrain as the GTi) and I really liked how it drove. Just gotta get used to the drive by wire throttle, but I really like the 2002 GTi (and even more so if they bring over the 25th anniversary).
So to answer you, I will be getting a mkIV GTi at some point!

Tru tru. But, aesthetically, minus the body work (boser/shaved mouldings/paint) it's just another mkIV on ~$1ooo coilovers and ~$4000 rims. And damn it looks nice with just that.

I drive my friend's mk4 GTI 1.8T often enough that I know that I love the engine, and hate the rest of the car. It's big, bulky, and disconnected. The throttle-by-wire irritates the hell outta me because it's not very linear, and difficult to modulate.
A new car doesn't mean trouble-free... just a new set of issues.

I gotta say that if I could afford a payment, AND, be able to mod heavily, I would love to get into a MKIV. I also would like to get into an A4 or S4, but c'mon josh be BrOkE!

My monthly payments on my car were only $205. It really was nothing at all, but let me tell ya, now that I don't have to pay that, I'm finding that I'm enjoying the extra cash every month.
$100 a month doesn't seem like a lot, but that's $1200 a year that you could be spending on something else. You don't have to worry about where you'd come up with an extra $100 because you blew it on a Thursday night bar tab. Know what I mean?
Anyhoo. Get off yer lazy ass and quit wasting time on the net. Use this as an inspiration. [/big sister nagging]

No. Mk4 is nice but it's too heavy. When I want a car like that I'll buy an Audi. Nothing wrong with it, but too luxurious for me to rationalize-I'll take better handling over leather seats every day.
