Beautiful. Not many cars can sport chrome fender lips, hood splitters, a roof spoiler and a 8" rear wing and not be held up for derision. The 3.0Csl is one of the few cars that can pull this off.

The 3.0 CSL's nickname is Batmobile for that very reason. The 3.0 CS models didn't have the wings.

i LOVE the 3.0 CSL. i especially like that little spoiler above the rear window. the car has a really mean stance and in black it looks even meaner!

I must learn how to post photos on the forums. At home I have a mint-condition deluxe sales catalog for the American market '73 BMW 3.0CS model (amongst the thousands of other catalogs this old packrat has stored away). This catalog in particular is one of my faves; with absolutely stunning photos of this landmark BMW. The interior in particular is breathtaking. The backseat is so sexy looking it should be used as a model for inviting rear-seating to this day.

The 3.2 litre came late in the game. The originals had a 2985 cc six, but there was also a 3003 cc in addition to the 3153 cc (3.2 litre)variant.
In addition to the aluminum body panels, the 3.0CSl had (or, in some cases, didn't have) plexiglas windows (there was an option for glass windows) thinner front windscreen and little in the way of sound deadening. They were some 300lbs lighter than the normal 3.0CS.
The spoiler package pictured above was never included on the car in Germany. Instead, it was included in the car: the trunk, to be specific. It was up to the buyer to install the spoilers.
The CSL in the batmobile configuration came only in two colors: polaris silver or Chamonix white. Looking at the car above, black should have been an option.
