Wrist Pins

I have a 1994 Jetta 2.0L 8V and am getting a "knocking" noise from the engine bay
. I could have sworn that it was the crank bearings but after changing them the noise was still there. It can only be heard from about 2200RPM and only in first, second and sometimes third gear. I am running an Autotech 270 cam and Q-Chip on an otherwise stock motor. A friend of mine has the same noise in his 2.0L but not as loud. Any ideas on the cause of this noise?

Re: Wrist Pins (bajan01)

You are correct. Wrist pins.
Re: Wrist Pins (vwpat)

One tother thing...I only get the noise under acceleration, none at idle or deceleration.
Re: Wrist Pins (bajan01)

At idle there is not enough force on them to rattle and on decel. the force is opposite so you do not get the noise.
Re: Wrist Pins (vwpat)

Do you think that this is worth worrying about

Re: Wrist Pins (bajan01)

Yes, eventually. A friend of mine had one that was knocking and kept revving it until a piston let go.
