You have six kids. You also have a very large boat. You live in a cabin at the top of a mountain whose only accessible path is over several large rocks. And gas is only 25 cents/gallon (although the station is at the bottom of the mountain). It is also illegal to own anything else but a full-size SUV. So which full-size SUV would you pick?
I need a full size SUV to tow a large boat and all my passengers....only one real one to pick....Gimme a Suburban with a big block. Black, and gunmetal gray all the brightwork. Tinted windows and full dual Borla exhaust.
ANyone who picks an import SUV to do this job does not understand the gravity of the job you are asking of it.
Of all the towable boats available today, most anything over 24 feet require a vehicle made by a domestic manufacturer.
A BMW X5? You have a son named Cole and a daughter named Buffy, right?

hehe, yep same here. I saw ANOTHER one today. Damn idiot driving it left it SO filthy

Uhm. he might have been driving it where it was made for, off road. I know if i had the cash for one of those, it would be muddy, scratched, dented, with a winch and serious skidplates added cause it would be out in the mud and rocks
I'll take the Suburban.
If I could do some customizing, and had lots of money, I would buy a Silverado 2500HD 4x4 truck with the Duramax diesel and ZF six-speed, and then drop a bright red Suburban body on it, retaining the Silverado's front fenders, grille, bumper, and lights. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
I picked the Caddy so I could get that 345hp monster V8 and look like a 'baller.
That thing is pure luxury inside, looks Darth Vader cool on the outside, and will tow your house off the foundation.
I'd loose the 7" Caddy logo off the grill though.
I have a cousin-in-law who did something like that. He took a 2500 dually frame and put a Suburban body on it. I forgave him for the SUV thing... since he built it himself!
The problem is the six kids part. Gotta be a Suburban.
The X5? That's OK, if you don't mind not having room for the kids AND getting stuck. Hummer? Please, no room! Ever been in one?

Not that I disagree with you - but there was an interesting comment in the recent issue of Automobile. In their discussion of their long-term X5, they mentioned that it was a better tow vehicle for their autocross car/trailer than the Yukon XL Denali they used - the rig just tracked better. I'm curious as to how this can be.
I'd LOVE an X5, but I harbor no pretentions that there is much utility in that vehicle....
