Knowing V Knowing W: A-Ha Tells its Story for VW Norway Share Comments If you were pressed to recite two facts about Norway that didn’t include Vikings, you’d probably say that it’s the home of A-ha and it loves electric vehicles. Volkswagen has finally brought those two things together for a four-minute video. The video starts with the story of A-ha, a band whose success seems unusual given how many big pop acts are coming out of Norway. The last Norwegian band whose description doesn’t contain the words “death” or “metal” is Ylvis, and the less said about that the better. The story is all rather sweet, though. The band seems to be doing rather well despite having had their greatest success the better part of 40 years ago. Still painting and singing, they seem to be well-adjusted, if somewhat artsy folks. Just what does this all have to do with VWs? Well, as the band members say, pop music is all about taking a formula and reinventing it over and over again… just like VW’s been doing with the Transporter. More to the point, in concert with ABT Sportsline, VW has just released an electric version of the Transporter. The ABT e-Transporter 6.1 has a range of 86 miles and makes around 110 hp and 147 lb-ft of torque. The numbers are anything but mind-blowing, but as an urban delivery vehicle, it excels. Silent, zero-emission, and with instantly available torque, VW hopes that people making local deliveries (more relevant than ever) will consider the e-Transporter. We hope you’ll forgive us for referencing a different Scandi classic pop band in our headline.
