Spend Friday Afternoon Learning Everything About Jesse’s F&F Jetta

It’s Friday, and it’s the end of the month. So you’d rather be doing just about anything other than working. So how about hearing the story about the Jetta in The Fast and the Furious? And how yes, it really did have brakes. Even though you can’t see them in that famous drag race.

It’s nearly an hour of Technical Director Craig Lieberman talking with Scott Centra, the tuner who built and owned the Jetta at the time. They’re talking how the car made it into the movie, how all of the graphics were hideous, and how Centra let a nitrous bottle from the set get away.

You can see more views inside the famous Jetta and hear Centra, who is still not happy about that brakes shot. Because it really had a custom made Brembo four-piston kit. With 13-inch rotors. Where’d they go? The movie people put a fake rotor overtop of the stock calipers of the copy used for that shot.

It’s also full of details like how Jesse’s in-car shots aren’t even in a Volkswagen. Though you probably already knew that because of the rear and side windows that are clearly a Honda Civic.
