Watch: The Founder’s Car is a V8-Swapped ’72 Audi 100 Coupe S Made by Mad Swedes Share Comments George Achorn is a name that should be familiar to you because he founded this site. And if you ever wanted to know what (one of) the founder of VW Vortex drives around in, wonder no more. It’s a 1972 Audi 100. But not just any Audi 100, a Coupe S with the very rare V8-from-a-1995-S4 option. That car was never sold in North America, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that this car was built in Sweden. The engine, specifically, is a 4.2-liter 32-valve unit that nearly 280 hp in the S4, though it sounds like it makes a little more than that now. It’s hooked up to a 6-speed manual from a 2005 Allroad. And while that all sounds pretty good, none of it sounds nearly as good as the engine does, revving happily in its new home.
