So when I am on the gas. Car wanders quite a bit. Like it will go left then I let off the gas and it starts heading straight. The front end feels light and the steering comes super sensitive like the slightest movement of the wheel makes a big movement in the car.

No it's not torque steer. Lol this is my 5th 1.8t, my 24v vr6 was totaled by an uber driver. Torque steer pulls to the right. My car wanders to the left and the front end and handling gets very sketchy and sensitive to inputs.

I do not, I bought the car from a dealer. It was traded in on a new f150, its stage 2 with a considerable list of parts. carfax showed all major stuff recently done like water pump t belt, head gasket, clutch, and front wheel bearings within past 10k. It's pretty slammed on 18's. The dealer had no idea what they had and I got a pretty good bargain for 1800 lol. Only issue seems to be the steering under power. I haven't checked the control arm bushings yet. It does have new tie rods and raxles.

If tie rods and axles have been replaced, and there is no record of an alignment I would get one to be safe. Not really sure about the steering under load though, havent had that happen with my jetta

As for the dealership not knowing what they had, most dealerships just see a golf or a jetta and not the work put into them or the appreciation people have for them. Thankfully they weren't very expensive cars to begin with, i bought my 03 Wolfsburg edition In 2015 for $2400 with 102k on the odometer. Since then a lot has changed with it obviously, but I'd rather drive it than a newer model with all the fancy electronics. More stuff for me to break. I am surprised at what you got it for though, I'd have guessed with how the used car market is right now that they'd have tried to hike the price up well past fair market value[emoji848]

Yeah the a arms are definitely pointing up. I'm going to raise it up a lil and see if handling improves
Pic of said $1800 gti.

So far what mods I can tell are:
Full 337 recaros
Front mount intercooler
Forge splitter valve
Ko4
Full silicone hoses
H&R coilovers
Awe tuning exhaust
337 interior trim
Cold air intake
Pioneer touch screen head unit
Raxles
Drilled and slotted rotors
Ecs tuning under drive pulleys
Smoked ecodes

Came with Full service records showing that within past 10k its had timing belt, wheel bearings, headgasket, waterpump and was stealership maintained for majority of its life

Hell yeah, that's a steal! I just recently installed a ko4, im tuning with maestro though so I can have the base files for the eventual gt series turbo. Ko4 was a drop in for a blown ko3 when I replaced the motor last year

So finally got the time to get under the car. All the suspension looks new. It has ecs lower control arm kit with full poly bushings. But the power steering rack is leaking out the drivers side boot. So I am under the impression that the pump is pumping air and intermittent fluid and I am get surge steering.

What bumper is that? The fit looks good for a front mount intercooler

I do need to hunt down a steering rack. Anyone parting out a mk4 in Eastern pa?
With the amount of work that goes into installing a rack, I would just purchase new. I got mine from FCPeuro.com:
(assumes 2001 Golf IV 1.8t with 5-speed... but, research yourself to confirm)

If you just need the lines.... EAA engineering has them....

But... after installing those lines on my golf and having the stock rack fail about a year later (no fault of the EAA lines... just mentioning because I had to do it twice), I wish I just got a new rack in the first place.
