I'm not sure if I did this or if the dealer did this, but it's not ideal. Apparently it's common as the Accord uses cheap, crappy plastic in this location. Luckily it's not really noticeable most of the time.

I've read that toothpaste can reduce/remove slight scratches like this... anybody tried it? Anything else work well? I certainly don't want to make it worse or cloudy.

You could try something like Meguiars PlastX. I've never done a true side by side comparison, but my recollection is that feels less abrasive than toothpaste.

Yeah - that's bad. It seems my lax cleaning regimen on our '19 Accord has payed off. No scratches.
Ha. I've only washed it once since I bought it in May. New record for me.

I noticed it after the dealer replaced the strut. That's not to say that they did it, and "proving" it would be a pain. Looks like a new lens is $50. Looks like Carvana is still offering me $38,500.

Good call on the PlastX. Maybe I'll try that on some cheap plastic packaging to see how it works.

That's pretty bad. I would check if you can remove the cluster and replace the plastic, if Honda sells that individually.

Scratches that deep would require some high grit wet sanding, and then it may appear wavy afterwards.

Problem I see is that if you use a polish, but aren't really careful you could be in the same situation. Looks like someone wiped it down with a cloth that had some crud embedded. The right way to do it is to remove the cluster and polish/replace, but either way, you gotta be sure you don't put scratches back in when you're removing whatever product you go with.

I can't tell from the pic, but be sure it doesn't have an antiglare/antireflective coating on it (like glasses or camera lenses) before you polish it, otherwise you may end up with splotches of purple/green and other totally clear areas

This is a problem on the Tacoma as well. I've never used anything other than soft micro fiber towels to gently remove dust but almost immediately I noticed lots of small scratches. It's so soft, I would definitely not recommend a plastic polish.

This film is supposed to fix it and prevent it from happening again. I haven't bought it yet.

Sounds like you should get a new cluster (via Civic Si).

The dealer did it. Always the most aggressive/abrasive method possible to start with for everything. Case in point, I once took a car to a dealer bodyshop to see about making a very slight vertical alignment adjustment to a door, the body shop's response? Not a minor striker adjustment, no...but "brute force" bending the door hinge. Not even joking.

I bought a triple square set and adjusted the striker myself.

Trust me, you didn't do that yourself.
