Required:
- Replacement Crankshaft Position Sensor from your favorite car parts store (Stock Part# is 06A 906 433 L)
- Ratchet with 6 inch extension bar and 10mm socket
- Pliers
- Cool engine
- Being careful to not to break your brittle dipstick tube like I did.
Step 1 (Remove Engine Cover):
- Remove the 10mm nut and pull up on the front of the engine cover to pull it off.
- Set engine cover and nut aside.
Step 2 (Remove bolt holding in the Crankshaft Position Sensor):
- The bolt can be removed without taking out the oil filter; however the sensor almost sits right behind it.
- Using the ratchet with 3 inch extension and 10mm socket, loosen and remove the bolt and set aside.
- Use pliers to twist the sensor until it pops out of its hole.
(Image Notes: The sensor can be found coming in behind and to the right of the oil filter in this direction.)

Step 3 (Move the two grey plastic clips forward/out of the metal harness):
- Being careful not to break your dipstick tube, slide the grey plastic clip that is attached to the Crankshaft Position Sensor forward and out of the "L" shaped metal harness. Note: This makes it possible to unclip the cable that connects down to the sensor.
