Re: is it wrong of me to want a "system"? (JoeJetta91)

about 7 years ago when i got ma licence i was into the stereo thing, then one of ma old cars got broken into and 1100 worth of ish got taken, alarm blaring. that was it for me and stereo's.
i personally wouldnt drop a grand into a stereo, id rather spend that grand for surround sound for ma 50" big screen, but im poor and cant afford the surround sound now.
point being, id rather spend that kinda money on stuff for the house, maybe cause im older now. i was at circuit city a week ago, they had 10" mtx subs for 30 bux, i was tempted, but then i would have to buy an amp, and lalalala.

Re: is it wrong of me to want a "system"? (JoeJetta91)

Huge stereo all the way. I have a massive PPI amp pushing my 2 12" JL's in a custom box I built for SPL and sq. Man their is nothing better but putting your favoite song in the cd player, and getting the sound waves vibrating your car and body to pieces. My system hits around 140.5db and when I am drivng around of course I ajust it for sound quality. I have to travel a few hours every day and it sucks without a system. And I totally agree with the insurance. You get extra insurance cause poop happens. YOu cant tell me that you guys with your rims and pimped out body kits dont get your car broken into too. poop if you keep your car pritty stock looking(no rice wings or kits) youll be fine.

Ok I have to also agree that it gets stupid after a while. My $1700 system got jacked and I only got $1000 to buy another. Right now im looking to get rid of my system and get a smaller one. But I could never drive around without a nice system, but thats my nature.

Seriously? You shoulda grabbed them. You could have made a nice profit.

I used to have a pretty loud system. Albeit it was all jury rigged it still set off alarms from 50 feet back. I'm not too concerned with bass nowadays. As long as the music's good, the sound's decent, I'm happy.

Re: is it wrong of me to want a "system"? (smokedtaillights)

well i tried 0, 4, and 8 guage wires, borrowed a capacitor, and bought a new battery... none of 'em did a damn thing for me... so the experts and myself agree the problem lies within the alternator

Re: is it wrong of me to want a "system"? (JoeJetta91)

poop man a cap should do it, no matter if the alternator is week. My freinds civic and my brothers tunderbird actually killed the battery like the car would go for about 2 bass hits and then it would die. They both got just a 1 farad cap and it works fine no fading or anything. What kind of amp do you have and how many RMS are you running to your subs. What type of load is it?

Re: is it wrong of me to want a "system"? (smokedtaillights)

um kicker 500watt to 2 12in compVR's but it's really not an issue anymore since the subs are no longer and will never be in that car.... the amp and everything workd mint in my last gli w/ factory charging system

and allllllllll of it is in the new gli so i'm confident

Re: is it wrong of me to want a "system"? (JoeJetta91)

yeah my jetta has a good powering system too. Ive never experienced a problem with a good quality amp but my kenwood used to draw a lot of power and dim the lights but not the PPI and the PPI produces way more power
