so i drive to work monday morning ac works fine blowing cold it works no weird noises nothing
i go to my car at lunch time boom no ac
the compressor doesnt even turn on anymore when i hit the button
where should i start to look for this problem fuses??? is my compresser toasted?? is the compresser clutch gone???
anyone have any ideas a tall
 
Re: AC issues (JettaGT8V80)

First check all fuses, including those on top of the battery. If those are good, jump the terminals for the A/C pressure switch to fool the ECU into thinking there is enough pressure. Turn the A/C on and check to see if the compressor engages. If it does, then you need more R134a. Don't run the compressor long with the pressure switch jumped. If the system is low on R134a, then you can hurt the compressor by running it too long.
 
Yeah!! but why? After reading these posts I found that the 30A coolant fan fuse?(the one on the battery) wasnot only blown, but melted on the plug side (the side towards the rear of the car). The socket around it was also melted but the connectors were still good. Replaced the fuse and everything is working again but what would be the likely cause. We have no idea how long the connector has been this way, the A/C has just today stopped working.
