I received a similar error message multiple times, and on the dash it would pop up saying "ACC not available" for 5-10 seconds if it happens in use, and then it would go back to functioning perfectly like nothing happened. Same error code as you U1123

Brought it to dealer and they scanned and cleared the code, told me if it happens again they'd have to bring in a tech. It comes up for me approx once a week, sometimes every day, sometimes i'll go a month without it. I leave ACC on all the time (in an inactive state) so i notice it every time it comes on. They said their tech actually just got back from a VW learning seminar on this exact issue and would have to bring someone specific in to look at it. They said before my car they've never seen this issue before.

I dropped my car off yesterday and they said they'd have an update for me tomorrow, so i'll let you know. Didn't sound good the service guy i spoke to is assuming he'll have to order parts but when i learn anything ill let you know.

Funny, my car was in the shop for a lane assist error, they had it over a day on the machine to get the lane assist cam aligned using a special machine (part headlight dot board part another board underneath).
I don't think they replaced any parts. After they fixed it, I happed to scan the car for codes a couple of times. But, this came up a couple of weeks later (after adding the 8" screen), with a crazy amount of frequency.
I will keep scanning the car and see if I can figure what triggers it and if any other codes or issues occur.
Doubt I will be much of any help though, other than taking it BACK to the dealer if/when the code comes back, which I really don't want to do, because the only VW dealership that has the complete machine of the 3 dealers, is one I can really live without.

Edit: I was asked by a VW tech, didn't you change out your wheels or have a TPMS icon. He said that usually occurs when one of the two occurs.

 

I am glad you asked. I get it too and not sure why. There isn't much to google on it either.

One thing I have noticed, but cannot pin point with certainty is that it seems to come up less often since I set my XDS+ back to normal from strong. Also seem to comes up less if I drive normal rather than hooning around.
I once heard that if ACC engages, the ECU can trigger a code as it notices a drivetrain issue. Don't recall where I read it or how accurate that may be, but these cars are quite complex so who knows.

 

You will only get a CEL for engine related codes.

 

You are technically right, but to be fair there is an ACC warning light at the bottom of the MFD that comes on when you disable ESC (thereby disabling ACC).

 

Soo dealership called they basically have no idea what it means. Says its a generic communication error and they couldn't replicate it. Said they called up the chain to VWoA who said that error is perfectly normal.

Going to start taking pictures when it pops up and i'm sure my car will be back in the shop shortly.

*bottomed out bad, lip crushed grill and cracked sensor connector.
Built a harness with 24 awg wires, solder, electrical tape and hot glue to resecure / solder the connector to the unit.

Purged the scan to remove non fault modules, but note, Lane assist threw no codes but was disabled when the module was not functioning.

And to add to my surprise, didn't require to calibrate it after patching it up

 

I "think" the module on the windshield is the one with the camera and crazy calibration.

 

^ Not my experience when I had to get front bumper and subframe replaced last winter due to black ice incident.
That sensor had to be recalibrated each time they removed the bumper (Body shop replaced bumper 3 times because of stupid human errors resulting in 3 sensor alignment appointments.)

 

That is weird, they told me the lane assist error (had no ACC function) was due to the module/camera on the windshield, and I dont know why they had to take the trim off (scratches on it, from using a pic tool, what tools) all behind the mirror to get it aligned or whatever they had to do with it.

 

The modules are used together; ACC, lane assist, adaptive lighting

 

I have just purchased a 2020 jetta sel. I have the same problem the acc regular cruise will work and then later in the day neither will function and I get the yellow cruise id on dash. Went to dealer they looked at it and it showed codes for the day it was snowing which is understandable since the sensor is behind the vw emblem on the grill. I explained to them that this happens on clear days. Of course it functioned perfectly when the tech drove the car and they told me that if it continues they will have to take it up with vw for a resolution.
