Anyone add a Dual Manifold and Non Cat Back Dual pipe on there 8v?

Hi I was thinking about replacing my manifold and pipe a guy I know selling it has a non cat back style pipe with o2 sensor hole. What I want to know is it a good idea go without Cat on car? Not concern with state inspection. Just like know is there any other reason I would need one. Thanks for any info

I did on our '78. But the '78 is a no cat model.
On a cat model (1980 & up on non-California cars) In Maryland they check to see if there's a cat, so this would not fly on an 80 up car here.
