Discover Pro MIB 2 maps & software update help

Hi all,

I have a Passat with a Discover Pro Mib 2 unit with no SD card in the car. I have read that I can’t update the maps because I need a SD card with a CID. Does it need to be any VW SD card from ebay or can I use a Sandisk or Samsung for example? If I can use another one, how can I put a CID in that SD card? Is there a tutorial for that?

The VW website says this: With a road network that is constantly changing, up-to-date map information is so nice. That is why Volkswagen offers free* map updates for up to 5 years after the last production of your navigation system generation.

So my cars delivery date is December 2016 (is this MY2017?). Am I still in the 5 years VW is speaking of?

Can someone tell me which is the newest software update for this unit? My unit says: Hardware: H51 Software: O814.

You must have a Passat B8 euro model as sw 814 is not available on PQ models. You can get a used VW SD and get new free maps from VW website.

Sadly this is not available for NAR, we have to pay for maps wether it be PQ or MQB.

Yes it is a euro model.

So any VW SD will work? It doesn’t matter which CID it has or which version of maps it originally was for example V2, V3, V4 etc.

I have read somewhere else that I can just use a normal SD card from 32GB. Is that true?
