Instrument Cluster Display showing timer after battery change.

I have a 2008 4 door rabbit. After I had the battery replaced in the car the instrument cluster is now showing a small "1" on the upper right corner and the center is showing a timer in minutes that counts up. This is after the key is turned onto the accessory section. It says "0 min", "1 min", etc. Does not reset after you take the key out and put it back in. Any idea what this is and how to go back to the standard display? This has replaced the range in miles display. bizarre.

I tried going through motions of resetting the service indicator but it does not make a difference.

That's when the countdown timer shows up. His is counting up.

OP, I have no idea either. But the first thing I would do is disconnect the battery, let it sit for 15 minutes or so, then hook it back up again.

Be aware that you're probably going to get a steering warning icon that will disappear after a few seconds/minutes of driving, and your power windows may need to be re-calibrated (which is very easy).

Just hit the OK button either on your steering wheel or wiper stalk depending on where they are. That will cycle through the various MFD screens. The timer is how long the car has been 'ON' if you will. It needs to sit for quite a while before it resets (not sure how long, but taking the key out and back in isn't enough time).
