I just never activated mine, I keep getting letters telling me to do so. If I never activate the system, then it doesn't work lol. Why did you activate it if you were concerned? I looked at the fine print and decided not to.

It would be a mistake to assume that because you never activated it that they could not still collect all the same data from your car.

I am sure they do collect data but I did not agree to the disclosures because of this:

"The VW Car-Net services transmit voice and data between the response center and your Vehicle over wireless and cellular telephone networks. We cannot guarantee the privacy and security of conversations or data transmitted to and from the Vehicle. You agree that we are not liable for any damages arising from a loss of privacy that occurs during communications over these networks."

Also sharing the information with "Partners" was a key word I did not like, the features of carnet are not worth it. Terms of service and other agreements can be found here:
