Well... I've had a new radio, new bogbone tranny mount, 3 new DV's and the 3rd one just went this weekend, squeaks and rattles fixed, interior trim was replaced due to deaier scratching it when working on the radio. Window regulators are going to be replaced next time I take it in for the DV... By then I'll order the Forge and get it all over with. Loaners are cool but these trips to the dealer are inconvienent.

I've noticed this too. It only drips a little after the door has been opened and only if raining steady for a while. anyone else had this happen?

I had a thread going here a while ago about 3rd gear grind. Mine started to get worse and now I got a blown tranny. Just so you all know, if shes grinding dont wait a little like I did, just bring her in!

...no problems for me so far. Although there seems to be an off-and-on again creak from somewhere near the back hatch...not sure....I only notice it once and a while so I'm not sure if I am just imagining things...

Squeeks, rattles, radio issues and seat issues aside, I'd be curious for those that had mechanical issues if you modified your car in any way. I've yet to modify the suspension on a car that didn't increase the squeek/rattle quotient quite a bit from that added ride stiffness.
Anyway, I'll pass this along to some contacts at VW so they can see where some of the problems are. Squeeks and rattle seem to be a regular way of life for most VW's...

hey, i've had that problem too, with the leaking aft opening my doors. i think that's just a design thing, tho. when we open our doors, the water pools inside the frame, by the rubber seal, and drops come inside afterwards. not a defect, and not a big deal.
also had the 3rd gear grind, but not all the time.

Hey all. I guess this would be my first contribution to Vortex.
Problems?
1. Replaced one speaker
2. Fixed a reclining problem on one seat
3. "Cleaned" the brake pads coz it was making an awsful squel while free running!
Besides that...I am one happy VW'er!

I took posession of my 337 with 8 miles on it. From day 1 it has had a huge creak in the rear passenger side, every time I back out of my driveway. Also it has the most anoying vibration coming from the dash since the first day also. My car is not modded, will never be modded, I wouldn't even change out the radio, as poor quality as it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I believe in stock, just a flaw of mine, as my son sees it. For all the negative things I read, I too am afraid something bad mechanical will happen. If I had taken more time, and not gotton wrapped up in all the hipe of the 337, I probably would have purchased a RSX type S, no realiability issues or mechanical issues, no rattles, no creaks, no torque! I guess I am lucky so far with my 337, no mechanical issues. But I only have 1600 miles, since July 30th!

after smoked a 5.slow stang, both my rear tail lights went out. So after noticing it I was heading over to a friends house and by the time I got there, the lights were back on. I checked the fuses and there were like 4 of that were loose, so I pushed them in to be secure.

You guys are awesome! We almost have 10% of 337 owners voting so It appears we have a decent idea of where the problems lie. A special thanks to everyone for not coming and and calling people whiners because they voiced a problem or concern. Thank you so much for a troll-free post!
A special thanks to Jamie also for getting involved and passing the information along. I think some of our problems could have been solved by the dealers without all the drama. We all know how VW dealers like to treat people once they drive off the lot

Maybe what we did here today will make a little bit of difference next time we buy a VDub. Keep the votes coming guys! The more we get the better chance there is of someone taking notice. I just hope that VW does not take this as an omen and decides not to offer any more special cars. With all the problems I have, there is not another car on this planet that could take the place of my 337. That includes porsche, Ferrari, and all the rest of them. Getting my car back after driving the VR6 for 2 weeks made me realize that the 337 was built just for me (or so it seems).

My radio also stopped working, the drivers side window leaks after door has been opened in the rain, BBS wheels finish is not the level of quality I would expect in a wheel this expensive from a manufacturer of their reputation.

Had a problem with an exaust leak....ummm kind of. The bolts holding the turbo to the exaust manifold became loose! I would imagine with all the heat it up and cool it down I do....that might have been the problem. Otherwise VW goofed and did not torque the bolts!

It's funny you should say something about the leak. I noticed mine was leaking yesterday during the Dallas rainstorm. I thought I was just dreaming, or too critical of the car. Interesting...this would add to my list of past leaky cars!

I thought I was just being hypersensitive to my problems:
1. Multiple squeaks/rattles - particularly of the cupholder cover (also in dash in front of driver and somewhere in the back).
2. Also have had radio issues with the stereo screwing up my alarm (doesn't sound the horn 99% of the times when it's armed).
3. The front passenger speaker has blown.
4. The auto-up feature on the passenger window had a brief stroke and wouldn't work for a minute, and then mysteriously started working again.
5. I've also had multiple problems caused by the work done to correct the other issues that I won't go into because they were due to shoddy workmanship.
I just turned in my '99 A4 at lease end. It had fewer squeaks, rattles, or other problems in 33,000 miles than my 337 has in 3300! I'm getting out as soon as I can. The car has sweet performance, particularly with my mods, but I just want higher build quality. You know there's something wrong when you know all the service guys' names by heart! I'll be going back to Audi for sure.

Stuff I've had:
Creaking in door hinges on both doors ... still have not got them replaced..
Blew coil on #4 cylinder
Squeaky Suspension
And that funny door leak, once you have gotten in and shut the door...DRIP!!

But, I love my 337, even with these quirks. The Monsoon was the biggest quirk of all...that HAS TO GO. http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif

Minor rattle in the dash
Popping sound from door under g-forces
Cracked taillight
Dealer fixed the rattle, adjusted the door catch, and replaced the taillight...same day. Can't complain.
My previous Cavalier lunched a shift cable. While fixing it, the dealer dented my hood from the inside out, then, while fixing that put overspray over the entire front of the car(never fixed that) The car burned a quart of oil every 1000 miles and Chevy wouldn't pop for a new motor even after I documented it like they asked me for over 15,000 miles!
Overall I love the car, VW has won a new customer.
