I was tired of the gray plastic inbetween the silver bars on the VW logo on the back of my jetta so i got a can of uni-black spray and went to work. a monkey could do this but i'm bored so here's the diy.
note: I did a sloppy job with touchup paint earlier which is why mine wasn't that gray plastic color to start with. i scraped the fuglyness i'd done earlier down before spraying to get an even job on it
1. cover the rear in newspaper (more so than is shown in this picture, i added more paper to the deck lid before i started spraying.) cut out around your emblem in the newspaper and cover in painters tape.
2. use a razor blade to cut out the little pieces where you want the paint to go...
-
3. shake vigorously. hold ~8in away from the car, spray light coats. I used maybe 5 very thin coats of paint (very thin to make sure it doesn't drip or collect in the bottom of any of the gaps)
4. let it dry, then remove newspaper and painters tape. enjoy new cleaner look.
