this is the diagram I used. When matching picture to legend, even that is f***ed up. I refer you to the F15 fuse, which the legend says is the 40a starter fuse, but clearly is a 10a fuse. So how can I trust this crap to be right. Hell, even the parts guys at the dealership say they have no clue. **** is frustrating.

The parts manager lets me bring back if doesn’t work. So that’s why I just went ahead a bought one.

 

No multi meter .

 

I have been told that it could also be the park switch since this is a dsg. They put all these damn relays And safety switches. What ever happened to get in and drive. Had a 67 Camaro and never had any issues. 6 fuses ran the whole damn car!

 

Yes it could be the switch for P&N if "auto" and clutch position sensor for manual.

So that looks like it could be an ignition relay. Am I reading that correctly. Labeled as a power supply relay.

 

Correct, that is relay 15 switched power

 

Hi, do you happen to know VW passat's well at all? I am having an issue and was curious if you may know what it could be. I noticed you were quite knowledgable regarding the GTI's so thought it made sense to reach out....

 

I also checked the 40a fuse labeled starter fuse , and that looked good. since dealer only had one relay, I replaced “18” but didn’t solve issue. Hearing clicking when turning off key , but can’t identify wether from under dash or under hood. Likely under dash since insulation and physical distance would make it hard to hear under hood. I also think that the fuel pump isn’t pumping when you open door. Could those two be on same relay? Would make sense.

 

Found a mobile mech. that says he can diagnose electrical issues. says he has VAG experience in his ad. works for a VAG garage and does this part time. Will be coming by tomorrow. 🙏🏼🤞🏼

 

Any luck on finding out what was wrong? I’m facing the same issues with my GTI.

 

Yes with a scan tool they can look at the P&N switch and relays etc. You could also supply 12 volts to terminal 50 of start with key on and trans in neutral and see if stater turns over. If you want the wiring diagram let me know.
