There are times when it would be prudent to drive with
only the Parking Lights and DRLs on, for instance, when boarding a ferry at night, or entering a military installation. Unfortunately, the default settings for the light switch don't allow this because as soon as you exceed 10 kph speed the lights will switch to AUTO and turn on the headlights. But there's an OBDeleven workaround that I confirmed yesterday:
Control Unit 09-Central Electrics, SFD: Yes
Adaptation | Licht bedienung [light operation]
LTM BGL Wegabhängig [path dependent] |
Not active, Active [OEM is Active]
LTM BGL Geschwindigkeitsabhängig [speed dependent] |
Not active, Active [OEM is Active]
LTM BGL Geschwindigkeitsabhängig Parameter [speed dependent] |
Not active, Active [OEM is Active]
Edit: corrected copy and paste typos in above to match screen shot.
If you want the headlights to revert to AUTO after driving a set distance you can leave the first parameter as 'Active.' The default distance is 95m in parameter 'Licht Reaktivierungs grenze,' which can be set to a maximum value of 255m as desired. Light operation will revert to AUTO once you cycle the ignition.
To use this option just set the light switch to
Parking Lights and you'll be good to go but remember to return to
AUTO if you need the headlights on and didn't leave the distance limit active
