Does anyone have an MK7 GTI 6MT with the overrun mode enabled? If so, do you have “bucking” issues when letting off the throttle?

General thoughts on Unitronic’s tune vs APR?

I have been working with APR for over a month now to get this issue resolved but I have not been given a definite date on their “beta” tune that is supposed to resolve this. I am considering swapping to Unitronic because of this and compressor surging issues (mild-aggressive acceleration nearly 100% of the time).

The automatics won’t have the same issue, it is the manual transmission only. It delays the timing of the motor when the throttle is let off and my understanding is that the DSG clutches in so you can’t feel the timing slip but it still occurs. I’m assuming this is how Uni does it as well but I can’t confirm.

It is only on in Sport mode. With the APR you have to actually click the sport mode button on the infotainment screen (not just shuffle through with the button on the console), which is why I didn’t realize the issue for a while with APR. I just thought it was always enabled but only worked on downshifts. Turns out it isn’t able to be turned off when “free revving” which is basically what you do for a split second on a rev match downshift.

I don’t think this is the case with the uni but I can confirm tomorrow.
