Think golfing. When you golf, you have a Caddy. The Caddy hauls your stuff around. Trucks haul stuff...and it is a VW Golf "over there". It's the Golf that hauls stuff. Wollah!

Just leave it to the wonderful marketing VWoA folks that just had to rename the Golf a Rabbit here in America.

<Also responsible for naming the German Passat a freak'n Dasher.>

Also, the Scirocco was not the first watercooled VW in America. The 1974 Dasher was.

True that. I still regret passing up a mint '75 Rocco years ago. Bright orange with orange plaid interior. Oh well...I got a '75 Rabbit instead. Already did the '74 Dasher thing too.

i'm still waiting on the right rocco1 to come along. had a few rocco2's.

My theory is that VWoA wanted a youthful, sporty image, and let's face it, no one realizes "Golf" is the name of a wind rather than a game played by (70's mind you) old men in plaid pants.
Plus, I realized something sitting in a Chinese restaurant one day, looking at the Chinese Zodiac Calender....
1975 is the YEAR OF THE RABBIT!!!!!!! (I am too, which is how I figured it out)

now it all make sence....
I dont know about the s-rocket growing on my.

I owned a 92 Corrado SLC which I know is the grandchild of the s-rocket. But even though it was sexy and only had 56k miles on it, was far to nose heavy and heavy overall. 3,500 lbs in a car that small is rediculus, my bunny weighs 1810 without me in it.
I like the caddy thing now that I know what you are all talking about...heh...

Were you hauling cement blocks in the trunk? Corrado SLC curb weight is only around 2800 lbs

sciroccos are really hot... but like many of the best things in life it's styling is an acquired taste. my best friend drove an '88 16v and eventually traded it for a '94 integra for reliability reasons, and most people ignorant about sciroccos considered this a great upgrade. But but integra isn't half as much fun...
